Sherry's passion for painting shows in her impressionistic style, reflecting the subtleties of color and the play of light and shadow in the oil paintings and mixed media paintings she creates. She captures the joy of nature in a sparkling landscape, the delicate beauty of a flower, a quaint cottage or a moody seascape - whether painting plein air or from a photograph taken during her many travels. She expresses much emotion and passion in her artwork.
Sherry originally studied oil painting in Manhattan Beach, California, where she was awarded 1st and 2nd places in an art show in that beach town. She then set her paints aside until she began painting again after a 20-year hiatus. She now has added collage/acrylic mixed media paintings as an important part of her artistic expression.
Sherry's paintings have been shown in Southwest Art Magazine; she has been the featured artist for interior designers for the Parade of Homes; she has done many commission pieces and provides fine art for several interior designers in the Colorado Springs area.
Sherry has been invited to show her art at the Colorado Springs Airport, US Olympic Center, Pikes Peak Center, Stagecoach Inn, Sangre de Cristo Art Center, Pueblo Riverwalk, El Pueblo Museum and at many fine art galleries throughout Colorado, in Taos and Deming, New Mexico, and in San Diego, California. She was the exclusively featured fine artist at Two Elk Gallery in Minturn for a number of years.
Sherry has been invited to put on many solo one-woman shows in Colorado and Kansas. She has been juried into various regional and nation art competitions and received awards including Best of Show, Peoples Choice and 1st Places. In an impressive tour de force, she took Best Professional, 1st, 2nd, 3rd places and honorable mention awards in the 2008 Eclectic Show at the Pueblo Art Guild.
Sherry is currently affiliated with fine art galleries in Colorado which includes Colorado Springs, Palmer Divide, Monument, Leadville, Woodland Park and Pueblo. Her work is also featured in a fine art gallery in San Diego, California. She works out of a gallery/studio in her home in Pueblo West, CO.
